Hey Friends--Welcome to Scotty + Calvin Designs! I'm a Maine maker creating hand-illustrated stickers and other artisan made goods. I paint + draw every design by hand, inspired by the mountains, salty air, pine needles, and the kind of trails that make you question your life decisions halfway up.

The facts are facts—Forget about growing, small businesses can’t stay afloat without you! Things are especially rough in the winter months so be extra supportive! Throw those likes and comments around like confetti!! ✨🎉 😎

And by “support” I don’t always mean purchasing (although we love that 😍) but if you’re not sharing, liking, commenting, engaging, etc. you’re not supporting... I said what I said 🤷🏻‍♀️. I’m guilty of this too so it’s a reminder to myself to do this more often!

Helping a small business grow their social media reach is free and can help connect them to buyers/stockists, and people who have yet to discover them. I started doodling on rocks and leaving them all over as a way to bring people joy. That’s how this whole thing started. 🖤 🤯

Rocks would get painted with uplifting messages or paintings and it encouraged people to go out and hike the town and trails because you never know what treasures you might find! The joy our group had posting, sharing, making memories with family and meeting new friends was like nothing else I’ve ever experienced. It’s hard to believe that that was the spark that started my small business. It was like an Easter egg hunt (that adults were in on!) and it was such a blast!

This quote really stuck with me over the years, and I try to remember it often.

👉🏻When I see other businesses that are successful that haven’t been in business for as long as I have.

👉🏻When I see artwork that looks better than mine.

👉🏻When I’ve had vendors tell me no and maybe someone else yes

👉🏻When I see a similar account to mine have a gigantic following.

I am reminded of that quote. And you know what? There will always be someone “better” at what you do than you. (That goes both ways though) You will always be your harshest critic. There will always be room for growth. There is a specific path meant just for you. Your journey is your own. 🖤

Comparison steals your joy so when you catch yourself doing it, throw that thought right into the trash where it belongs. Change your perspective and try again. 🖤
